CERRO BELLO 5200m, CUERNO BLANCO 5000m, Yeguas Muertas 4800m

Cerro Bello and Cuerno Blanco have attractive alpine-style ice faces. The surroundings are pretty beautiful with glaciars, in considerable altitude and fast to reach. Thus, they present a fine and more challenging alternative for acclimatization to the highly frequented Cerro Plomo.
Follow the valley of Embalse El Yeso until reaching the hot springs, a common place with quite a few people on holidays. You can get there by car, but outside summer a thunderstorm can trap it until the next season. From there a trail starts further up the valley leading to the glaciated region. The valleys are wide and the landscape is more open allowing good views. Certainly a good area for trekking as well. The two mountains are beautiful and exceed the 5000m. A good physical condition is needed for Cerro Bello. We also have seen ice waterfall formations.
