Mesón Alto east face

This peak rises from all behind in the valley of the rio Morado. It has one of the best south faces, steep and 1000m high. There are more peaks and routes to do, and certainly a lot of virgin lines waiting for us.

• Location: Baños Morales, Cajón del Morado, see map Detail of Baños Morales and Embalse el Yeso
• Access: 3h from end of road (4WD) to basecamp at 4000m (2 days from B.Morales), base camp to face 2h
• Characteristics: Ice face up to 1000m, some mixed

The south face of Cerro Mesón Alto offers an excellent ice climb up to 60°, going up close to the right skyline. To the left the 700m couloir of Punta Saavedra (4700m) is seen.
